Avril Lavigne after being in the dark for almost 5 years is back and stronger than ever! The pop-punk singer that we all know and love is releasing her newest album “Head Above Water”. The singer was diagnosed with Lyme disease and has been fighting the condition for 7 years. She recently took to her fan page explaining her struggle, “Those were the worst years of my life as I went through both physical and emotional battles, I felt like I was drowning. Like I was going underwater and I just needed to come up for air. Like I was in a river being pulled in a current, unable to breathe. Praying to God for him to help me just keep my head above the water.” Several years ago she founded the Avril Lavigne Foundation, which supports individuals with Lyme disease and other serious illnesses but this was officially the first time she’s opened up about her personal experiences with the illness to her fans. This will be her fifth studio album and her first since her 2013 self-titled record. Her newest album “Head Above Water” was inspired by her struggles and is described as powerful and triumphant.
The singer is ready to be back stating on social media “I’m taking my life back into my own hands and doing what it is I know I am meant to be doing in this lifetime, making music and sharing my healing and hope, through my music. I wish for this all to touch you, to bring you strength, to lift you up, to inspire and to encourage you.” I think we are all excited to see where this path will lead her and what kind of content will fill her newest album, go Avril!
